Where are we to turn to seek the undiscovered? Where will we find the ideas to renew our music, transform it into something different from what we had thought? How can we soften the hard edges of our instruments, feeding them with emotions so that they become like voices, strange or familiar, inviting us to dive deeper? We seek this in the simplest of places: the song. If we hadn't first dreamed of being able to sing, we would never have taken up instruments.

With this repertoire, we want to bring the audience with us on our journey into the world of song. Although the words to these songs are known to us all, you can choose new ones for yourself, and each fragment of melody will tell a story about us all.

This is the first time Luca Aquino and I have created a project together. Nothing was decided a priori, we hadn't even planned to record, it just kind of happened. All of this was born from a friendship which led us to decide to play together, and later, to create a collaborative project. We wanted to play beautiful melodies, simple melodies, and make them our own. It was quite simple and natural, there's little more to say.

This duo (just like my duo with Di Bonaventura) has become a source of great satisfaction and inspiration. Both projects are unique and special to me, but in both cases I get to do one of my favorite things in the world: I sit at the piano and play the most beautiful songs I know.
