Reminiscenze is a duo record with Daniele di Bonaventura.
This project is important to me because it allows me to do one of the things I most love: sit down with my instrument and a friend and play the most beautiful songs we know. Some of them are songs of our own, others are songs from throughout the world: Italy, South America, France.
We have come to know the sound of the bandoneon through its princely role in the tango, but in it's sound I hear echoes of the sea, the hopes and dreams of a thousand voyages. It speaks of seduction, the touch of skin and the passion of dance.

At the same time, we cannot forget the liturgical origins of the instrument, initially invented as a substitute for the pipe organ, used by Germans to play hymns as they sailed towards a new life in South America.

In Reminiscenze, Daniele di Bonaventura and I play a repertoire composed of songs. Songs are receptacles of memory, speaking to us of lives lived, each song telling its own story in its own way to each of us. And in hearing that story, we make it our own, rediscovering ourselves within its verses.
This feeling of rediscovery is the same we experience when gazing upon a ship embraced by the sea, engulfed by memories of the past and dreams of the future. Reminiscenze speaks of those dreams and memories.
